Agriculture Champion: Magaji Gettado Elected AFAN President, Gombe Governor Hails Victory

Hon. Mohammed Magaji Gettado, former Commissioner of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry in Gombe State, has been elected as the new National President of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN). His emergence came during the association’s national congress at the 2025 National Agricultural Showground in Nasarawa State, where a 27-member National Executive Council was also inaugurated.
Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, congratulated Hon. Magaji on the milestone, describing his election as a source of pride for Gombe State and a testament to his longstanding contributions to Nigeria’s agricultural sector.
“Hon. Mohammed Magaji is a round peg in a round hole. His impressive pedigree and dedication to agriculture will serve farmers across the nation well,” Governor Yahaya stated.
The Governor highlighted Magaji’s track record, including his service as Chairman of the Gombe State House of Assembly Committee on Agriculture, Commissioner of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry, and National Publicity Secretary of AFAN.
Governor Yahaya expressed confidence that the new AFAN President will leverage his experience and national network to unite farmers and advance the Federal Government’s agricultural transformation agenda under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope initiative.
He assured Hon. Magaji of the full support and goodwill of the Gombe State Government and its people as he assumes his new national role.
