Abuja, Nigeria – December 2025

Governor Bala Abdulkadir Muhammed of Bauchi State has been conferred with a prestigious award by the Presidency in recognition of his outstanding contributions to good governance, rural development, and urban renewal. The honour was celebrated at a grand dinner held in Abuja, attended by distinguished senators, members of the State House of Assembly, royal fathers, political leaders, and well-wishers.

In his acceptance speech, Governor Muhammed expressed deep gratitude to Allah and dedicated the award to the people of Bauchi State. He emphasized that the recognition was not his alone but a collective achievement made possible by the unwavering support of citizens, legislators, traditional rulers, and local government leaders.

“This recognition is not mine alone; it is ours. Without your support, we would not be where we are today. Bauchi has stood by me with monumental support, and together we have built a culture of unity, discipline, and respect,” the Governor said.

The Governor commended members of the Bauchi State House of Assembly for their cooperation across party lines, noting that in six years there had been no rancour between the Assembly and commissioners. He praised local governments for their resilience despite challenges of manpower and resources, stressing that their strength reflects on the entire state.

Governor Muhammed also highlighted the transparency of the award process, applauding the Presidency, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, and Justice Mary Odili for their courage in recognizing governors across party lines. He noted that many of the awardees were PDP governors, underscoring the party’s enduring legacy of good governance.

“Governance is not about politicking; it is about answering the call of duty to the masses. This award strengthens our resolve as patriots to continue building a stronger Bauchi, a stronger North, and a stronger Nigeria,” he added.

The Governor, who has now received three national awards — for rural development, urban renewal, and good governance — reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive growth, multi-dimensional development, and strengthening ties with the federal government despite political differences.

The Abuja dinner was attended by prominent figures including Senator Adamu Ibrahim Gumba, Senator Bala Kariya, Hon. Disina, and several royal fathers, who were lauded for their fatherly support and enduring presence.

End.
