Bauchi Executive Council Fires On With Bold Approvals

By Abdulwahab Muhammad Bauchi

The Bauchi State Executive Council has rolled out a wave of transformative decisions, signaling a new era for healthcare workers and communities across the state.

In a landmark move, the Council approved a 100% salary increase for medical and healthcare workers. Commissioner for Health, Dr. Sani Muhammad Dambam, confirmed that the increment will be paired with special allowances for staff serving outside local government headquarters.

Even more, over 2,000 healthcare workers will finally receive their long-overdue promotions, a step expected to energize the sector and improve service delivery.

Flood-prone communities are set for relief. Commissioner for Housing and Environment, Danlami Ahmed Kawule, announced new culverts and drainage systems for Duguri (Alkaleri LGA), Ningi town, and Walai (Itas/Gadau LGA). These projects aim to shield residents from the devastating effects of seasonal flooding.

Infrastructure is also getting a facelift. Commissioner for Works, Professor Titus Ketkuka, revealed that the Council has approved over ₦9 billion for new road designs and construction in Bauchi metropolis. Rehabilitation works will cover:

Rimin Zayam Road (Toro LGA)

Polchi Road (Darazo LGA)

Yandoka Road linking Wunti to Gombe Road

These projects are expected to ease traffic, boost commerce, and improve access across the state.

The Council didn’t stop at healthcare and roads. Other approvals include:

Digitization of Bauchi State Television (BATV) and Bauchi Radio Corporation (BRC), aligning with global broadcasting standards.

Recapitalization of Yankari Savings and Loans, strengthening financial services for residents.

This isn’t just routine governance — it’s a multi-sector push that touches healthcare, infrastructure, media, and finance. By prioritizing worker welfare, tackling flooding, and modernizing institutions, Bauchi State is positioning itself for resilience and growth.
