“Bauchi PDP Slams Wike Camp: 4 NWC Members Can’t Speak for 18”

Bauchi, Nigeria – December 22, 2025
The political atmosphere in Bauchi State has heated up as the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) loyal to Governor Bala Mohammed strongly rejected the authority of a factional Caretaker Committee allegedly aligned with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.
At a press briefing in Bauchi, the State Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Dr. Dayyabu Chiroma, described the committee’s recent directive as “misleading, inflammatory, and legally baseless.”
Chiroma challenged the legitimacy of decisions taken by only four out of eighteen members of the PDP’s National Working Committee (NWC).
“By any known standard of corporate governance, party constitution, or democratic practice, can four members out of eighteen constitute a quorum capable of convening a valid meeting or taking binding decisions on behalf of the PDP?” he queried.
He stressed that the party’s constitution recognizes the National Chairman as the convener of all activities, not a minority faction.
The controversy began when the Wike-backed Caretaker Committee ordered Bala Mohammed’s loyalists to vacate PDP secretariats across Bauchi within 14 days. The committee threatened “lawful consequences” for non-compliance.
But Bauchi PDP insists its Executive Committee led by Pharmacist Sama’ila Adamu Burga remains the only lawful authority, having been elected in line with the PDP Constitution and Nigeria’s 1999 Constitution.
Chiroma dismissed attempts to portray Nyesom Wike as “National Leader” of the PDP, calling the title “reckless, misleading, and completely unknown to the Constitution of our great party.”
He further claimed Wike and his allies were expelled by the National Convention, stripping them of any moral or political standing in PDP affairs.
The Bauchi PDP accused Wike’s camp of undermining the party’s survival by insisting PDP should not field a presidential candidate in the next general election, despite the office being zoned to the South.
Chiroma concluded that such demands expose “their ulterior motive and hidden agenda against the survival and growth of our party.”
