CAN Applauds Governor Bala Mohammed for Inclusive Governance and Religious Harmony in Bauchi

In Bauchi State, the spirit of Christmas was marked not only by celebration but also by a powerful message of unity and inclusivity. The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Bauchi State chapter, paid a Christmas homage to Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed at the Government House, applauding his administration’s commitment to fairness, religious harmony, and inclusive governance. 

Led by Reverend Abraham Damina (represented by Secretary Reverend Matthew Wakili), the CAN delegation expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Governor for extending goodwill to Christians across the state. They described his gesture as a symbol of compassion and shared belonging—proof that Bauchi is a home for all, regardless of faith. 

Peace and Freedom of Worship

CAN leaders highlighted the peaceful environment in Bauchi, noting that Christians worship freely without fear, intimidation, or discrimination. They praised the administration’s support for Christian infrastructure, including: 

Provision of new cemeteries 

Support for church projects 

Efforts toward completing and commissioning key religious facilities 

In his response, Governor Mohammed reaffirmed his dedication to fairness and justice, stressing that government resources belong to all citizens without exclusion. 

“Bauchi State is a shared home for all. Progress can only be sustained through mutual respect and cooperation among people of different faiths,” he declared. 

He emphasized that welfare initiatives for faith communities are not acts of goodwill but responsibilities of governance. 

The Governor commended CAN for constructive engagement with government and recognized the Christian community’s contributions to peace and stability. He described Christmas as a reminder of compassion and understanding—an opportunity to deepen interfaith ties. 

Later, addressing thousands of Christian faithful gathered at the Government House, Governor Mohammed urged continued unity and peaceful coexistence, assuring that Bauchi will remain a beacon of peace and shared progress. 

This moment reflects more than seasonal goodwill—it underscores Bauchi’s growing reputation as a state where inclusivity and religious harmony are actively nurtured. By blending symbolic gestures with tangible support for Christian communities, Governor Bala Mohammed is reinforcing pthe idea that governance must serve everyone equally.
