Governor Inuwa Yahaya Mourns Journalists Lost in Tragic Gombe Accident

On 29th December 2025, Gombe State was plunged into mourning following a tragic accident along the Billiri–Kumo Road. The victims, journalists and staff of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) Gombe and the Ministry of Information, were returning from a colleague’s wedding in Kaltungo when the fatal incident occurred.
Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, expressed overwhelming grief and shock at the news, describing the tragedy as a devastating blow not only to the families and institutions involved but to the very soul of Gombe State’s media and public service community.
“This tragedy is deeply painful. We have lost colleagues, partners in progress, and devoted public servants who served with passion and a strong sense of duty. Their absence will be felt for a long time,” the Governor said.
The accident claimed the lives of several respected professionals:

Manu Haruna Kwami – Manager Administration, NTA
Isa Lawan
Musa Tabra – Retired Manager News
Aminu Adamu – Senior Driver
Adams Danladi – StarTimes
Judith Kutus – Information Officer, SUBEB
Governor Yahaya described them as committed professionals who dedicated their lives to informing, educating, and serving the people of Gombe State.
Several victims are currently receiving medical attention:

Nina Gadal – Ministry of Information
Jonathan Bara – Manager Marketing, NTA
The Governor assured that the government will provide full support to the injured and their families, praying for their speedy recovery.
A Dark Moment for Gombe
Governor Yahaya extended condolences to the bereaved families, the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NTA staff, and the wider media fraternity. He emphasized that the tragedy is a collective loss for the state:
“This is a dark moment for Gombe State. We mourn together, we grieve together, and we pray that Almighty God protects us all from such tragic occurrences.”
He concluded with prayers for the departed souls, asking Almighty God to grant them eternal rest and give strength to their families and colleagues. End
