The Federal High Court, Abuja, Courtroom No. 5, has granted bail to the Bauchi State Commissioner for Finance, Hon. Dr. Yakubu Adamu, alongside three other defendants.
Delivering the ruling, the presiding judge explained that after carefully reviewing the allegations, he found no strong evidence to substantiate claims of terrorism sponsorship. He further noted that there was no indication that releasing the defendants on bail would lead to them absconding or obstructing ongoing investigations. These were the key reasons behind the court’s decision.
Bail Conditions
The judge ordered that each of the accused persons, including Dr. Yakubu Adamu, must provide two sureties. These sureties must be senior government officials serving at the level of Permanent Secretary and Director within the Bauchi State Government.
The case has been adjourned to February 26, 2026 for continuation of hearing.
Background
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), in collaboration with the Federal Government, had arraigned Dr. Yakubu Adamu and three others on allegations of sponsoring terrorism. However, prosecutors have so far failed to present convincing evidence to support the charges, leaving the accusations without solid foundation.
