14 Journalists Injured in Bauchi NEDC Coverage Accident, No Fatalities Reported

A convoy accident on Friday along the Duguri–Yashi Highway in Bauchi State left 14 journalists injured while covering projects commissioned by the North East Development Commission (NEDC).
The Incident
The accident occurred shortly after the commissioning of a Government Secondary School (GSS) project in Yelwan Duguri, Alkaleri Local Government Area. The journalists, representing national and local media houses including Channels Television, AIT, NTA, Arise News, Kauran Bauchi Media TV, and Bakandamiya News, were part of the NEDC delegation convoy when their vehicle was involved in the crash.
Emergency Response
The injured journalists were initially rushed to Yelwan Duguri Hospital for emergency treatment.
Ambulances were mobilized to transfer those with serious injuries to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) in Bauchi.
Those with minor injuries were conveyed in government delegation vehicles to Bauchi for further medical care.
Government & NUJ Intervention
Senior officials quickly intervened to assess the situation:

The Commissioner of Information, Adviser on Media and Publicity, Chairman NUJ Bauchi State, and Director of Media Government House visited the hospital to check on the injured journalists.
The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) expressed concern over the incident, emphasizing the need for improved safety measures and transport logistics during official assignments.
Current Status
All 14 injured journalists have now been moved from Yelwan Duguri Hospital to Bauchi Teaching Hospital. No fatalities have been reported, and medical teams are providing ongoing treatment.
Delegation Involved
The NEDC delegation was led by Minister of State for Regional Development, Alhaji Uba Maigari Ahmadu, alongside the Chairman and Managing Director of NEDC, the Deputy Governor of Bauchi State, and other government officials.
