As Bauchi State marked its golden jubilee, the celebrations reached a spectacular climax with a grand royal durbar held at the Dr. Rilwanu Sulaiman Adamu Square within the Government House. The event, staged on Wednesday evening, drew a massive turnout of spectators, dignitaries, and traditional rulers, offering a vivid reminder of the state’s rich cultural legacy.

The durbar was graced by the Executive Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed (CON), alongside former governors, eminent traditional leaders, top government officials, and guests from across Nigeria. Their presence added prestige to an event that blended tradition with modern statehood.

Gallant horsemen in regal attire paraded magnificently adorned horses, displaying courage, discipline, and elegance. The procession, steeped in centuries-old tradition, captivated the audience with its pageantry and ceremonial splendor. It was more than a visual spectacle — it was a reaffirmation of Bauchi’s identity and resilience over the past five decades.

Beyond its grandeur, the durbar carried a deeper message of unity. It celebrated the shared history, diversity, and enduring values that have bound the people of Bauchi together since the state’s creation in 1976. It also underscored the importance of preserving cultural heritage while embracing progress and modern governance.

The Bauchi @ 50 durbar stands as one of the defining highlights of the golden jubilee celebrations. It reminded citizens and guests alike of the pride, resilience, and cultural wealth that continue to shape Bauchi State’s identity — even as the state faces contemporary challenges and opportunities.
