Gov. Inuwa Yahaya Condoles Family of Late Prof. Buba Bajoga

Governor Yahaya described Professor Bajoga’s passing as a profound loss not only to Gombe State but also to Nigeria’s academic community and the nation at large. He recalled the late scholar’s invaluable contributions to education, particularly his role as Chairman of the Committee on Tertiary Institutions in 2020. The committee’s recommendations, he noted, provided strategic direction and strengthened ongoing reforms in the state’s tertiary education sector. “Professor Bajoga was a man of exceptional intellect, integrity and uncommon commitment to national service. His counsel, experience and patriotism greatly strengthened our efforts to reform and reposition tertiary education in Gombe State,” Governor Yahaya remarked. The Governor prayed for Almighty Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the departed, reward his lifetime of service with Aljannatul Firdaus, and grant his family and the academic community the fortitude to bear the loss. Early Education: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, in 1968. Advanced Studies: PhD in Electrical Engineering from the State University of New York in 1972. Academic Career: Rose through the ranks at ABU, becoming a Professor of Electrical Engineering in 1984. Leadership Roles: Vice-Chancellor of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi, from 1984 to 1994. National Contributions: Chaired the Committee of Vice-Chancellors and contributed significantly to Nigeria’s engineering and telecommunications sectors. Later Service: In 2020, chaired the Gombe State Committee on Tertiary Institutions, shaping reforms in higher education. Professor Bajoga passed away at the age of 88 in the United Kingdom on February 6, 2026.
