In a major boost to agricultural productivity and food security, the Senator representing Gombe Central Senatorial District, Mohammed Danjuma Goje, has flagged off the distribution of 65½ trailers of modern fertilizer to farmers across his constituency.

The flag-off ceremony took place on Thursday at the Senator’s residence in Pantami, Gombe, drawing stakeholders from across the senatorial district.

Strategic Support for Farmers

Represented by former APC State Secretary in Gombe, Alhaji Abubakar Adamu, alongside Alhaji Danjuma Babayo, Senator Goje said the intervention was designed to ease the burden of high fertilizer costs and improve crop yields ahead of the 2026 farming season.

According to him, the beneficiaries were carefully selected to ensure equitable distribution and grassroots impact.

“We deliberately commenced this distribution before the rainy season to help our farmers prepare adequately and avoid the challenges experienced last year due to high fertilizer costs,” the Senator stated.

Beneficiary Selection Across 869 Polling Units

The distribution covers a wide range of beneficiaries, including:

23 beneficiaries from each of the 869 polling units across Gombe Central

Ward stakeholders from the 22 wards in the district

Local Government stakeholders from Akko and Yamaltu Deba LGAs

Zonal stakeholders across the senatorial zone

Religious organizations within Gombe State

Women, youth, and elders’ groups

Social media practitioners

Large-scale farmers contributing to food production

Boosting Food Security and Rural Economy

The fertilizer support initiative is expected to significantly improve farm yields, enhance food security, and stimulate rural economic activities across Gombe Central.

Senator Goje reaffirmed his continued commitment to supporting agriculture as a key driver of economic growth and livelihood improvement in Gombe State.

“Agriculture remains central to our development agenda. We will continue to invest in our farmers to ensure food sufficiency and economic prosperity for our people,” he added.
