Gombe Deepens Digital Transformation Drive with Strategic IT & e-Governance Workshop

Gombe State has taken another bold step in its digital transformation journey with a high-level capacity-building workshop on IT Infrastructure Asset Management and e-Governance Migration. The event, organized by the Gombe State Information Technology and Digital Economy Commission (GOSIDEC) in collaboration with the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, was held at the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) Zonal Office in Gombe.
The workshop brought together key stakeholders, including the Commissioner for Science, Technology and Innovation, Prof. Abdullahi Bappah Garkuwa; the Director-General of GOSIDEC, Dr. Al-Amin Umar Barambu; the IDICE Focal Person, Saifullah Waziri; alongside senior technical officers and ICT professionals from critical Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
Speaking at the event, Prof. Garkuwa described the workshop as “timely and impactful,” emphasizing that it marks a significant milestone in Gombe State’s quest to become a digitally enabled, innovation-driven, and service-oriented government. He highlighted the state’s deliberate investments in ICT infrastructure, human capital development, and digital governance frameworks as the foundation for a smarter and more connected future.
“With deliberate and sustained investments in digital infrastructure and capacity development, we are laying a solid foundation for a smarter, more connected and more prosperous future for our people,” Prof. Garkuwa stated.
Driving Efficiency and Transparency
Dr. Barambu, Director-General of GOSIDEC, noted that the workshop was designed to enhance technical capacity, promote global best practices in IT asset management, and accelerate the migration of government services to secure, efficient, and citizen-centric e-Governance platforms. He stressed that the initiative aligns with Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya’s vision of deploying technology as a catalyst for transparency, accountability, and inclusive development.
Equipping Stakeholders for the Digital Era
The sessions featured expert-led discussions on modern IT infrastructure management, data security, system integration, and digital service delivery. Participants were equipped with practical tools and knowledge to optimize existing digital assets and implement sustainable technology solutions across government institutions.
This workshop underscores Gombe State’s commitment to positioning itself as a pacesetter in technology-driven governance in Nigeria. By strengthening digital infrastructure and building technical expertise, the state is charting a path toward more efficient public service delivery and improved citizen engagement.
