Gombe State has emerged as Nigeria’s most peaceful and least dangerous state, according to the latest Nigeria Watch 2024 Report released by StatiSense, a leading data intelligence and analytics organization.

According to the report, Gombe recorded the lowest fatality index nationwide at 0.33, placing it ahead of all other states in the federation.

Other top-performing states on the safety index include:

Cross River State – 0.37

Akwa Ibom State – 0.89

Security Strategy Behind the Achievement

The report attributes this outstanding performance to the proactive, intelligence-driven and people-centered security architecture of the Gombe State Government under the leadership of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON.

Since assuming office, Governor Inuwa Yahaya has consistently placed security at the forefront of governance, implementing strategic policies that include:

Investment in modern security infrastructure

Intelligence-led policing and surveillance

Strengthened collaboration with security agencies

Community-based conflict resolution mechanisms

Strengthening Peace and Social Cohesion

Beyond security operations, the administration has also focused on grassroots engagement and conflict prevention, ensuring inclusivity and participation of local communities in maintaining peace.

These efforts have significantly improved social cohesion, stability, and trust between citizens and security institutions across the state.

A Model for Subnational Security Governance

Observers say Gombe’s performance provides a model for effective subnational security governance in Nigeria, demonstrating how coordinated leadership, community engagement, and data-driven policies can deliver measurable peace outcomes. With this latest ranking, Gombe State continues to strengthen its reputation as one of the safest and most stable environments in Nigeria — a development expected to boost investment, tourism, and overall economic growth in the state
