Gombe SEC Approves Mega Infrastructure, Water & Agro Projects Worth Billions

Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya has presided over the 52nd meeting of the Gombe State Executive Council (SEC), approving a wide range of infrastructure, water, energy, agriculture, and security projects aimed at accelerating development across the state.

The decisions were announced after the council meeting by the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Mijinyawa Ardo Tilde, who said the approvals are part of the Government’s commitment to improving service delivery and quality of life for citizens.

₦54bn Water & Power Intervention to End Gombe Water Crisis

In what officials described as a long-term solution to Gombe’s water challenges, the council approved major investments in water supply and energy infrastructure.

Key Water Projects Approved:

₦24.26 billion for the rehabilitation and upgrade of Malam Inna Water Scheme, with supply extended to the livestock development zone and nearby communities.

₦7.07 billion for installation of dedicated power lines and equipment upgrade at Dadin Kowa and Tabra booster stations.

₦23.33 billion for solar power plants to power water treatment and booster stations.

Officials say the projects will eliminate power-related disruptions and ensure stable water supply across Gombe communities.

The council also approved ₦18.5 billion for the construction of a 19.9km strategic road linking:

Mararraban Kwaji – Jagali – Jarawa – Maikaho – Tsando – Dandela – Dasa

The project also includes stormwater drainage infrastructure in Yamaltu/Deba LGA and is expected to be completed within 12 months.

To modernize urban planning, SEC approved ₦5 billion for:

Street and road naming

Installation of signages

House numbering system across the state capital

The project is expected to be delivered before the end of 2026, improving navigation, emergency response, and urban management.

₦56bn Agro-Livestock Industrial Zone to Transform Economy

In one of the biggest approvals, the council approved ₦56 billion for a 184-hectare Agro-Livestock Development Zone that will position Gombe as a regional agro-processing hub.

The facility will include:

Ultramodern abattoir

International livestock market

Grains and feed market

Inland dry port

Tannery and leather processing factory

The project is expected to create jobs, boost exports, and drive agro-industrial growth in the state.

To support regional security efforts, the council approved:

₦1 billion monthly contribution to the Northern States Governors’ Forum Regional Security Trust Fund

₦500 million contribution for the construction of the Forum’s permanent secretariat

These approvals signal a multi-sector development push targeting:

Reliable water supply

Improved road connectivity

Modern urban planning

Stronger regional security

Agricultural industrialization and job creation
