In a remarkable show of inclusiveness and unity, the intervention has also been extended to the Christian community observing the Lenten season, reinforcing the shared values of sacrifice, compassion, and charity.

According to the Governor, the distribution is carefully structured to reach:

Persons living with disabilities

Orphanages and vulnerable homes

Religious organizations

Community groups and party support groups

Other disadvantaged households across the state

Governor Inuwa Yahaya noted that the Ramadan palliative initiative has been a consistent policy since 2019, aimed at ensuring that no citizen is left behind during periods of spiritual devotion and economic strain.

“This unique convergence of Ramadan and Lent reminds us of the shared values that bind us together as people of faith,” the Governor stated.

The Governor called on citizens of all faiths to use the season to promote:

Peace

Tolerance

Mutual respect

Compassion for the less privileged

He also urged Nigerians to pray for the country and its leadership, specifically calling for support and wisdom for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as he navigates ongoing national reforms.

To ensure fairness and accountability, the Governor directed that district heads across the 11 local government areas be fully integrated into the distribution committees.

The Chairman of the State Distribution Committee and Commissioner for Local Government and Community Development, Abdulkadir Mohammed Waziri, assured residents of a transparent and seamless process.

Also speaking, ALGON Chairman and Chairman of Gombe Local Government Council, Barrister Sani Ahmad Haruna, pledged the full support of all 11 local government chairmen, promising strict adherence to guidelines to ensure items reach the most deserving beneficiaries.

The event featured the symbolic presentation of food items to selected beneficiaries and organizations, marking the official commencement of the statewide distribution exercise.

This intervention reflects the administration’s commitment to:

Cushioning economic hardship
