A Scholar Remembered: Tinubu Honors Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has paid tribute to the late Islamic scholar, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, during a condolence visit to Bauchi State. The visit not only reflected the President’s respect for the revered cleric but also marked a historic decision to immortalize his legacy through education. 

Arrival in Bauchi

Touching down at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa International Airport, President Tinubu was warmly received by Bauchi State Governor Senator Bala Mohammed, Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang, and other dignitaries. 

Among those present were: 

Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, Minister of Foreign Affairs 

Professor Muhammad Ali Pate, Minister of Health 

Tajuddeen Abbas, Speaker of the House of Representatives 

Mai Mala Buni, Governor of Yobe State 

Seyi Bola Tinubu, the President’s son 

The gathering underscored the significance of the occasion and the unity it inspired. 

Renaming of Federal University of Sciences, Azare

In a symbolic gesture, President Tinubu announced the renaming of the Federal University of Sciences, Azare after Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi. The decision was framed as a recognition of the scholar’s lifelong contributions to Islamic scholarship, moral guidance, and community leadership. 

Governor Bala Mohammed expressed gratitude, describing the renaming as “an honor to Bauchi State and Nigeria at large.” The move ensures Sheikh Dahiru’s name will continue to inspire future generations, linking his spiritual legacy to modern education.
