In a move that underscores his administration’s people-centred approach to governance, the Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, transformed an unscheduled inspection visit to Wahu Primary Healthcare Centre into an opportunity for employment and motivation for frontline health workers.
The visit to the facility—rehabilitated under the present administration—was aimed at assessing infrastructure, service delivery, and the effectiveness of the Drugs Revolving Fund in ensuring access to essential medicines for the community.
Governor Mohammed expressed satisfaction with the condition of the centre, citing improvements in infrastructure, availability of medical equipment, and the dedication of health personnel on duty.
In a defining moment during the visit, the governor ordered the immediate absorption of two volunteer health workers into the Bauchi State civil service, while directing that another volunteer be employed under the local government service.
The gesture, according to observers, not only rewards diligence but also signals the government’s readiness to strengthen the healthcare workforce and improve service delivery at the grassroots.
Governor Mohammed commended the staff of the facility for their commitment and urged them to sustain their efforts, while calling on relevant authorities to maintain the facility and ensure continuous improvements in healthcare services. The Wahu PHC is one of several facilities upgraded under the current administration as part of ongoing reforms aimed at revitalising primary healthcare delivery across Bauchi State—bringing quality and accessible healthcare closer to the people
