NEDC Extends Condolences to Families of Slain Bauchi Police Officers

By, Abdulwahab Muhammad Bauchi.

In a heartfelt show of solidarity, the North East Development Commission (NEDC) has extended its condolences to the Nigeria Police Force and the families of five officers who tragically lost their lives during a gun duel with bandits in Sabon Sara village, Darazo Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

On November 22, 2025, bandits ambushed and killed five officers:

DSP Ahmad Muhammad (SID)

ASP Mustapha Muhammad (10 PMF)

Inspector Amarhel Yunusa (10 PMF)

Inspector Idris Ahmed (10 PMF)

Corporal Isah Muazu (AKU)

Two others, Inspector Isah Musa (SID) and Inspector Yusuf Gambo (SID), sustained injuries in the attack.

Relief and Support for Families

Speaking during the distribution of relief materials, Alhaji Aliyu Isiyaku, NEDC Bauchi State Coordinator, emphasized that the Commission stands firmly with the bereaved families and injured officers. He prayed for Allah’s comfort and strength for them during this difficult time.

The Commission provided both food and non-food items to ease the hardship caused by the tragedy:

For injured officers: 50 bags of rice, 50 cartons of spaghetti, 50 blankets, 50 mats, and 5 cartons of vegetable oil.

For families of the deceased: 50 bags of rice, 50 cartons of spaghetti, 50 blankets, 50 mats, 5 cartons of vegetable oil, and 10 bags of sugar.

This intervention formed part of a broader relief effort for communities affected by the farmer-herder conflict in Darazo and Sade, where the Commission allocated 1,000 bags of rice, 1,000 cartons of spaghetti, 1,000 blankets, 1,000 mats, 500 cartons of vegetable oil, and 1,000 bags of sugar.

Words of Appreciation

The Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, expressed deep gratitude to the NEDC for its timely intervention. He noted that most of the slain officers were breadwinners, and the support would go a long way in easing the hardship of their families. He also appealed for continued assistance, particularly in community support, employment opportunities, and educational aid for the children of fallen officers.

On behalf of the beneficiaries, Zainab Umar, wife of late Inspector Amarhel Yunusa, thanked the Commission for the gesture and prayed for the souls of their husbands.

Symbol of Solidarity

The NEDC’s intervention is not just about material support—it is a symbol of solidarity with the Nigeria Police Force and the communities they protect. It reflects the Commission’s commitment to standing with those who sacrifice their lives for peace and security in the North-East.

Closing Note:

This tragedy is a reminder of the human cost of insecurity in Nigeria. The NEDC’s support underscores the importance of compassion, justice, and community resilience in the face of such challenges.
