On 19th January 2026, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, of Gombe State stood at the center of two defining moments — one of reconciliation and another of mourning — both underscoring his leadership role in promoting peace, unity, and justice across Northern Nigeria.

Tangale Community’s Solidarity Visit

At the Government House in Gombe, the Tangale community, led by Hon. Eglah Idris (Chairperson, Billiri LGA) and the Mai Tangale, Malam Danladi Sanusi Maiyamba, paid a solidarity visit to the Governor.

Governor Yahaya urged the people to embrace forgiveness, reconciliation, and peaceful coexistence, stressing that unity is indispensable for sustainable development. He reminded them that his bond with Tangale transcends politics, rooted in mutual trust and respect nurtured by his late father.

Community leaders pledged loyalty, praised ongoing developmental projects in Billiri, and called for mercy toward those who had acted against the collective will. Elder statesman Ambassador Mohammed Saidu Fawu urged lessons from the past, while legislators Hon. Yakubu Daniel and Hon. Nimrod Malon promised to push for laws that accelerate growth.

The gathering, attended by traditional rulers, religious leaders, women, and youths, symbolized a renewed commitment to reconciliation and inclusiveness.

On the same day, Governor Yahaya, in his capacity as Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum (NSGF), announced the passing of Alhaji Bature Abdulaziz, Chairman of the Arewa Traders Association and National President of the Harmonised Traders Association of Nigeria.

Describing the Kano-based business mogul as a pillar of commerce and trade development, Yahaya recalled his recent visit to Gombe where he inspected the 1,000-hectare Muhammadu Buhari Industrial Park in Dadinkowa. The Governor extended condolences to the Arewa Traders Association, Kano business community, and the bereaved family, praying for Allah’s mercy and Aljannat Firdaus.

In a related statement, the NSGF condemned the gruesome murder of Fatima Abubakar and her six children in Dorayi Chiranci, Kano State. The Forum described the act as barbaric and heartbreaking, commending the Nigeria Police Force for swiftly arresting suspects and urging diligent prosecution to ensure justice and deter future violence.

Together, these events highlight Governor Yahaya’s dual focus:

Healing divisions within communities through reconciliation and inclusiveness.

Upholding justice by condemning violence and supporting law enforcement.

His leadership reflects a vision where peace, unity, and development remain the cornerstones of progress in Gombe State and Northern Nigeria.
