The Bauchi State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has expressed strong displeasure over the attitude of School Support Officers (SSOs), Area Education Officers (AEOs), and Arabic Visiting Teachers (AVTs) toward their official duties.

Speaking at a mini training session held at the Katagum Local Education Authority Conference Hall in Azare, the Director of Monitoring and Evaluation, Malam Abbas Abdulmumini, noted that many of the officers do not fully understand the scope of their assignments.

He emphasized that their responsibilities include resumption visits, daily monitoring activities, supervision, Continuous Quality Assurance (CQA), follow-up, and examinations. He urged them to ensure that their observations and recommendations are properly documented and transmitted for immediate action.

Also addressing the session, SUBEB’s Director of School Services, Malam Zuhairu Usman, expressed concern over the attitude of some teachers toward their appointed duties. He reminded them that teachers, according to scriptures, are among the most rewarding individuals in society and called for a positive change in attitude.

In his welcome remarks, Education Secretary of Katagum LEA, Malam Mukhtar A. Habu—represented by Head of Quality Assurance Yakubu Mohammed—commended SUBEB management for its commitment to maintaining standards in basic education across the state.

During the question-and-answer session, some supervisors expressed dismay over the lack of seriousness among certain teachers and parents, particularly in Magwanshi of Madara District, where schools have not fully resumed for the term. They called for urgent action to prevent future occurrences.
