Gov. Inuwa Yahaya Constitutes Steering Committee for Gombe Technology, Innovation Hub

High-powered team to drive innovation, enterprise development and economic diversification in Gombe State

22nd January, 2026 – Gombe, Nigeria – Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, has approved the constitution of a high-powered Steering Committee for the Gombe State Technology and Innovation Hub (GOTECH-HUB), a flagship initiative designed to deepen innovation, enterprise development, and economic diversification across the state. 

Announcing the Governor’s approval, the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, said the committee will provide strategic direction, policy guidance, and oversight for the establishment and operationalization of the Hub. He explained that the committee is tasked with ensuring measurable impact, attracting strategic partnerships, and supporting young innovators, entrepreneurs, and start-ups in Gombe. 

The Steering Committee will be chaired by the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Development, Hon. Salihu Baba Alkali. Other members include: 

Hon. Sanusi Ahmed Pindiga, Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources 

Professor Baba Yusuf Abubakar, University of Abuja 

A Consultant on the Innovation Hub from the Faculty of Agriculture, Gombe State University 

Farouk Daudu, Executive Secretary, Gombe State Investment Promotion Agency 

A representative of the private sector 

The Director-General, Research and Documentation, Ahmed Hussain, will serve as Secretary of the Committee. 

The GOTECH-HUB is envisioned as a catalyst for value creation and economic diversification in key sectors such as agriculture, solid minerals, science, technology, and business. It aligns with Governor Yahaya’s vision of positioning Gombe State as a competitive destination for innovation and investment. 

Governor Yahaya charged the committee to ensure the Hub leverages technology, research, and innovation to unlock the state’s vast economic potential, stimulate job creation, empower young people, and attract both local and foreign investments. He emphasized the importance of collaboration among government, academia, the private sector, and innovators, while promoting practical, home-grown solutions to development challenges. 

With the immediate appointment of members, the Steering Committee is expected to set the pace for Gombe’s transition into a knowledge-driven economy, positioning the state at the forefront of innovation in Northern Nigeria
