Bauchi Police Crack Down on Thuggery, Boost Security Confidence

Crackdown on Sara‑Suka Gangs
The Bauchi State Police Command has intensified its fight against insecurity with a decisive crackdown on Sara‑Suka thugs across Bauchi metropolis. On 21st January, 2026, detectives led by CSP Hassan A. Musa arrested five notorious gang members during a night patrol.
The suspects — Ibrahim (Iron Yaya, 19), Abdullahi M. Sani (Ayya, 19), Jafar Yakubu (Kura, 18), Muhammad Muhammad (Shairi, 22), and Abdussalam Ibrahim (Bobonta, 20) — were apprehended for criminal conspiracy, attacking citizens, and dispossessing them of valuables in Bakaro, Tudun Yarima, Karofin Madaki, and Kofar Dumi.
They confessed to the crimes during interrogation and will face prosecution alongside previously arrested members.
Security Confidence Building in Mansur Town
In a parallel move, CP Sani‑Omolori Aliyu, psc(+), mni, led a joint team of security heads to Mansur Town, Alkaleri LGA, to reassure residents and strengthen community confidence.
The team included the NSCDC Commandant, representatives of the Brigade Commander and DSS, and the Nigerian Forest Security Services Commander. They also inspected the Forward Operation Base (FOB) under construction by the Bauchi State Government.
At a community meeting in Mansur Market Square, residents expressed gratitude and renewed trust in security agencies, while sharing their concerns.

CP Omolori’s Assurance
Addressing the gathering, CP Omolori dismissed rumours of any truce or amnesty for bandits, stressing that neither the Bauchi State Government nor security agencies have entered into negotiations with criminal groups.
He assured residents that their safety remains a top priority, urging them to remain vigilant, move freely, and report suspicious activities.
