Gombe State, Nigeria – January 25, 2026 Gombe State has recorded a historic surge in Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), growing from ₦6.8 billion in 2019 to an unprecedented ₦40.8 billion in 2025. The milestone marks a nearly 500% increase in six years under the leadership of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON. The 2025 revenue figure nearly doubled the ₦20.7 billion recorded in 2024 and exceeded the state’s target of ₦25.7 billion by a staggering 158%, signaling a new era of financial strength and governance efficiency. Chairman of the Gombe State Internal Revenue Service (GIRS), Aisha Adamu, FCNA, attributed the growth to strategic reforms initiated by the Yahaya administration. Since her appointment in 2023, she said, the state has seen accelerated revenue performance. “From ₦15.18 billion in 2023, we rose to ₦20.72 billion in 2024. In just one year, we doubled that to over ₦40 billion,” Adamu stated. She credited the Governor’s unwavering support and focus on fiscal discipline, improved taxpayer compliance, and expansion of the tax base as key drivers of the success. The GIRS Chairman emphasized that the increased revenue would enable the government to invest more in social infrastructure, enhance public service delivery, and fund critical development projects that directly benefit Gombe residents. “As we move into 2026, we are confident that with continued support from His Excellency and the cooperation of the good people of Gombe State, we will achieve even greater revenue performance,” she affirmed. Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s administration continues to earn praise for its commitment to economic transformation, transparency, and results-driven governance. End
