Ramadan: Senator Shehu Umar Flags Off Distribution of 18,200 Bags of Rice Across Bauchi

In a major humanitarian gesture to support vulnerable families during the holy month of Ramadan, the Senator representing Bauchi South Senatorial District, Shehu Buba Umar, has flagged off the distribution of thousands of bags of rice across Bauchi State.
The initiative, aimed at cushioning the economic hardship faced by citizens during the fasting period, will see over 18,000 bags of rice distributed to constituents and other beneficiaries across the state.
Distribution Across Bauchi South LGAs

The distribution covers all local government areas within Bauchi South Senatorial District as follows:
Bauchi LGA – 2,000 bags
Toro LGA – 1,500 bags
Alkaleri LGA – 1,200 bags
Tafawa Balewa LGA – 1,000 bags
Kirfi LGA – 700 bags
Dass LGA – 700 bags
Bogoro LGA – 300 bags
Support Extended to Other Senatorial Zones
Beyond his immediate constituency, Senator Shehu Buba Umar also approved:
3,500 bags for Bauchi North
3,000 bags for Bauchi Central
Additional allocations have been earmarked for APC leaders, community organizations, and other critical stakeholders across the state to ensure widespread reach.
Senator Speaks on the Initiative
Speaking during the flag-off ceremony, Senator Buba Umar said the intervention was designed to support Muslims observing the Ramadan fast and reduce hardship among families.
“Time and again, we strive to provide support that will help our people alleviate the hardships of life, particularly during this sacred month when food is essential,” he said.
He thanked Almighty Allah for the opportunity to serve and noted that such humanitarian gestures form a core part of his responsibilities as an elected representative.
Call for Transparency and Accountability
The Senator expressed confidence in the committee responsible for the distribution and urged its members to ensure fairness, transparency, and accountability so that the food items reach the intended beneficiaries.

Chairman of the Distribution Committee, Abdulkadir Lawal Gyengyen, commended the senator for the timely intervention, describing him as a lawmaker deeply committed to the welfare of his constituents regardless of political affiliation.
“We will ensure justice in the distribution process and make sure that those entrusted with delivering the items do not divert them for personal gain,” he assured.
Community Reaction
Also speaking at the event, Muhammad Sade expressed gratitude for what he described as quality representation at the Senate, praising Senator Buba Umar for consistently supporting the people of Bauchi South and the state at large.
