The Aliko Dangote Foundation, in collaboration with the Bauchi State Government, has flagged off the distribution of 20,000 bags of 10-kilogram rice to vulnerable residents across the state as part of efforts to cushion economic hardship during the holy month of Ramadan.The flag-off ceremony took place at the Dr. Rilwanu Sulaiman Adamu Square within the Government House Bauchi, where members of the public, particularly vulnerable and less privileged residents, gathered to benefit from the humanitarian gesture.Speaking at the event, Bala Mohammed commended the Dangote Foundation for its continued support to the people of Bauchi State, noting that the foundation’s interventions since the inception of his administration have significantly improved the living conditions of indigent residents.The governor, who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Mohammed Auwal Jatau, said the gesture aligns with his administration’s development blueprint aimed at empowering citizens and supporting vulnerable households.He further directed the Bauchi State Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management to ensure that the rice palliatives are distributed fairly, transparently, and strictly to the intended beneficiaries.Earlier, the Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Hajara Yakubu Wanka, explained that the initiative is part of the Dangote Foundation’s nationwide humanitarian support programme covering all the 36 states of the federation.According to her, Bauchi State received 20,000 bags of 10-kilogram rice, which will be distributed to carefully selected beneficiaries across the state.She further disclosed that the Bauchi State Government complemented the gesture by distributing additional bags of millet and maize to expand the reach of the intervention.Hajiya Wanka noted that the ministry had prioritized the most deserving groups, including persons living with disabilities, widows, the elderly, and other vulnerable members of society, to ensure that the support reaches those who need it most.She appreciated the Dangote Foundation for the partnership and pledged that the ministry would ensure the judicious and transparent distribution of the food items.Some of the beneficiaries who spoke at the event expressed appreciation to both the Bauchi State Government and the Dangote Foundation, describing the intervention as timely and impactful, particularly during the Ramadan period.
