The Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to promoting policies and programmes that expand women’s access to opportunities, resources and support systems that address their unique needs and challenges.In a message marking the 2026 edition of International Women’s Day, Governor Inuwa Yahaya said the annual observance provides an opportunity to celebrate the invaluable contributions of women to society while reflecting on the challenges they still face.According to the governor, women remain indispensable partners in the demanding task of nation-building, noting that the Gombe State Government has taken deliberate steps to promote inclusiveness by appointing women into key positions across the Executive, Legislative and Judicial arms of government.He explained that such efforts demonstrate his administration’s firm belief in gender mainstreaming and its resolve to empower women as critical stakeholders in governance and development.Governor Inuwa Yahaya also encouraged women across the state to remain confident, focused and resilient, urging them to continue harnessing their talents, skills and natural nurturing abilities in contributing to the growth and progress of society.The governor commended the theme of this year’s celebration — “Rights, Justice and Action for All Women and Girls” and “Give to Gain” — describing it as a call for stronger investments in women through education, mentorship and improved access to opportunities.According to him, empowering women remains a strategic pathway to building a stronger, more inclusive and equitable society.Governor Inuwa Yahaya further reaffirmed the commitment of the Gombe State Government to sustaining programmes and policies that uplift women and enable them to thrive as agents of positive change in their communities.
