The Bauchi State Government has approved the donation of over ₦20 million, seven bulls, and clothing materials to journalists and media organisations across the state to support a joyful and memorable Eid-el-Fitr celebration.The gesture, announced at the Government House in Bauchi, was conveyed by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado, who said the support was in recognition of the media’s vital role in promoting government programmes and fostering public awareness.He noted that Governor Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed remains committed to strengthening government–media relations and ensuring that journalists are supported, particularly during festive periods.Breakdown of the DonationAccording to the government, the beneficiaries include:Government House Press Crew – ₦2 million and one bullCorrespondents’ Chapel – ₦2 million and one bullSocial Media Practitioners – ₦1 millionNigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) – cash support and one bullKare Muradu Group – ₦1 million and bullsKABASIYYA – ₦1 million and a bullOther recognised media groups and cultural organisations, including Kaura Praise SingersClothing materials were also distributed to support journalists and media practitioners in preparing for the Sallah festivities.Media Community Applauds Governor’s GestureSpeaking on behalf of beneficiaries, representatives of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) and the Correspondents’ Chapel described the donation as timely, thoughtful, and symbolic of the administration’s appreciation of the media as partners in governance.They expressed gratitude to the governor for recognising the sacrifices and professional contributions of journalists across the state, especially in promoting accurate information and public enlightenment.“This gesture demonstrates the Governor’s consistent support and respect for the media community in Bauchi State.”The media representatives pledged continued commitment to objective, responsible, and development-oriented reporting, while assuring the government of sustained support in highlighting policies and programmes that benefit the people of Bauchi State.Strengthening Government–Media PartnershipObservers note that the annual Sallah gesture has become a tradition under Governor Bala Mohammed’s administration, reinforcing cooperation between government and the press and promoting a cordial working relationship that enhances transparency and public communication.
