Barely 24 hours after the leadership of theAfrican Democratic Congress (ADC) visited Bauchi to court Governor Sen. Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, a high-powered delegation of the rulingAll Progressives Congress (APC), led by its National Chairman,Nentawe Yilwatda, has arrived in the state for talks with the Governor.The APC delegation, which also included the Governor of Kano State,Abba Kabir Yusuf, held a closed-door meeting with Governor Mohammed at the Government House in Bauchi on Wednesday.The meeting, which lasted about one hour, was attended by selected senior government officials and political stakeholders, including:Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly,Abubakar Y SuleimanSecretary to the State Government,Aminu HammayoChief of Staff to the GovernorSome members of the National AssemblyMeeting Held Behind Closed DoorsNeither Governor Mohammed nor members of the APC delegation addressed journalists after the meeting, fueling speculation over the purpose of the visit.However, sources within Government House suggested that the APC leadership’s visit may be connected to ongoing political consultations following the Governor’s public acknowledgement that he is considering leaving thePeoples Democratic Party (PDP) amid the party’s prolonged internal crisis.Shortly after the meeting ended, the APC delegation departed Government House and proceeded directly to the airport for their return to Abuja The APC delegation’s visit came less than a day after a team from the ADC, led by former Secretary to the Government of the Federation,David Babachir Lawal, visited Bauchi to persuade Governor Mohammed to join the party.The Governor had earlier described the ADC as a “viable” and “vibrant” opposition platform amid ongoing consultations with political stakeholders.Governor Mohammed has repeatedly stated that reconciliation efforts within the PDP have failed and that he is under intense pressure from supporters to chart a new political direction.He also confirmed that two committees — one at the national level and another in Bauchi — were set up to explore possible political options, including possible alliances with both the ADC and APC.IPAC Urges Governor to Engage StakeholdersMeanwhile, theInter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) in Bauchi State has urged Governor Mohammed to work closely with it as he concludes consultations on his next political move.Political tension in Bauchi has continued to mount as expectations grow that Governor Mohammed may formally announce his next political party on Thursday, April 2, 2026, alongside key supporters and allies.The rapid succession of high-level visits from both the ADC and APC underscores the Governor’s strategic importance in the evolving national political landscape ahead of the 2027 general elections
