the Northern States Governors’ Forum (NSGF), have jointly condemned the deadly explosions that struck Maiduguri, describing the attacks as barbaric and an assault on the collective peace and stability of the region.The position of the Forum was conveyed by its Chairman and Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, who read the communiqué on behalf of his colleagues following the tragic incident.The coordinated blasts, which occurred on Monday evening, targeted multiple locations, including the gate of the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, the Monday Market Roundabout, and the Post Office area, leaving many feared dead and several others injured.In the communiqué, the Northern Governors expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and extended condolences to the government and people of Borno State, particularly families affected by the tragedy.“This senseless act of violence is not only reprehensible but a cruel attempt to instill fear and undermine the fragile peace being restored in the North-East. It is an attack on our shared humanity,” the Forum stated.The Governors also sympathized with those injured and currently receiving treatment, praying for their swift recovery, while commending security agencies and emergency responders for their prompt intervention.Reaffirming their collective resolve, the Forum emphasized its unwavering commitment to working in synergy with the Federal Government and security agencies to confront and eliminate terrorism and all forms of criminality across Northern Nigeria.The Governors further called for intensified security efforts and stressed the urgent need to bring perpetrators of the attacks to justice without delay.They also urged citizens to remain calm, vigilant, and supportive of security operations by volunteering credible information that could aid investigations.“At this critical moment, unity remains our greatest strength. We stand together against terror and remain resolute in our determination to secure our region and protect our people,” the communiqué added.The Northern Governors concluded by praying for the repose of the souls of the deceased and reaffirmed their shared commitment to restoring lasting peace and stability across the region.
