Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has approved the appointment of Professor Kabiru Ibrahim Musa as the new Director-General of the Bureau for Information Technology and Digital Economy (BICT), in a leadership reshuffle involving two key government establishments.
The appointment, which takes immediate effect, sees Professor Musa replacing Hayatudeen Babamaji, who has been redeployed to serve as Director-General of the Ahmadu Bello International Conference Centre (ICC), Bauchi.
Professor Musa, a Senior Lecturer at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi, holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Computer Science, alongside professional certifications from Microsoft and Cisco.
With his academic background and experience in information and communication technology, the new Director-General is expected to provide leadership in advancing the state government’s digital transformation agenda.
His responsibilities include overseeing the daily administration of the Bureau, implementing government policies on information technology and the digital economy, and strengthening the operations and expansion of the state’s Digital Academy.
The appointment comes as the Bauchi State Government continues efforts to promote digital literacy, technological innovation and the development of ICT skills as part of its broader economic development initiatives.
Meanwhile, Hayatudeen Babamaji’s redeployment to the Ahmadu Bello International Conference Centre follows his service at the Bureau for Information Technology and Digital Economy, where he contributed to its establishment and institutional development.
In his new assignment, Babamaji will oversee the administration, strategic planning and operational management of the Conference Centre, with responsibility for improving its efficiency and service delivery.
Governor Bala Mohammed congratulated both appointees on their appointments, expressing confidence that their professional experience and leadership backgrounds would contribute to the effective management of their respective establishments.
The Governor also charged them to discharge their responsibilities with dedication, professionalism and commitment to the objectives of the state government.
Both appointments take immediate effect.
