Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has approved the appointment of veteran journalist and former Managing Director of the Bauchi Radio Corporation (BRC), Alhaji Idris Usman Sambo, as the substantive Managing Director of the Bauchi State Television Authority (BATV).
The appointment marks another leadership decision by the state government aimed at strengthening public broadcasting and improving the operations of state-owned media institutions.
The Governor also called on the management and staff of BATV, alongside relevant stakeholders in the media industry, to give the new Managing Director the necessary cooperation and support to enable him to succeed.
While congratulating Sambo on his appointment, Governor Mohammed expressed optimism that his leadership would usher in improvements in the station’s operations and service delivery.
The appointment places Sambo at the helm of one of Bauchi State’s key public broadcasting institutions, with expectations that his experience in radio broadcasting, media administration and professional union leadership will help strengthen the television station’s performance.
For BATV, the new leadership presents an opportunity to improve programme quality, expand audience engagement and strengthen its relevance in an increasingly competitive digital broadcasting environment.
