Veteran media practitioner, Yakubu Abdullahi Bawa, has donated communication gadgets, including microphones and CD plates, to the state-owned Bauchi Radio Corporation (BRC) and Bauchi State Television (BATV) to support their operations.Presenting the items, Bawa said the gesture was his way of giving back to the media industry in appreciation of its immense contributions to society and to his professional journey over the years.He explained that the donation was also aimed at complementing the efforts of the Bauchi State Government under the leadership of Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed to modernize and digitize state-owned media organisations.The Bauchi State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Usman Shehu, who received the items on behalf of the state government, commended the donor for the thoughtful gesture and support to public media institutions.He noted that the donation would go a long way in improving the working tools available to journalists and broadcasters in the state-owned media establishments.The Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Comrade Muktar Gidado, represented at the event by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Communication, Alhaji Abdulwahab Muhammad, also applauded the initiative, describing it as a meaningful contribution to the growth of the media sector.Speaking at the event, Alhaji Abdulwahab Muhammad emphasized the importance of strengthening public media institutions.“Support to public media institutions is an investment in credible information and democratic development. This thoughtful donation will strengthen the capacity of our broadcasters to serve the people better.”Managing Directors of Bauchi Radio Corporation and Bauchi State Television, alongside the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Bauchi State Council, Umar Sa’id, expressed appreciation to Yakubu Abdullahi Bawa for the donation and commended his commitment to the advancement of journalism in Bauchi State.
