In a strong show of solidarity within Nigeria’s opposition ranks, Seyi Makinde, Governor of Oyo State and Deputy Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, paid a private Sallah homage visit to Bala Mohammed at the Presidential Lodge, Ramat House, in Bauchi.The visit, which came shortly after the Eid celebrations, underscores growing consultations among key stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) amid ongoing internal challenges within the party.Leadership Comes With Trials – MakindeSpeaking to journalists after a closed-door meeting with Governor Bala Mohammed and other political figures, Governor Makinde said his visit was primarily to pay Sallah homage and express personal solidarity with his Bauchi counterpart.He noted that leadership inevitably comes with tests and urged Governor Bala Mohammed to remain steadfast despite political pressures.“Leadership is not without its trials, but perseverance and faith ensure that joy eventually comes,” Makinde said, while extending Eid greetings to the people of Bauchi State and praying that the sacrifices made during Ramadan would yield lasting blessings.Visit Demonstrates PDP Unity – Bala MohammedResponding, Governor Bala Mohammed described the visit as a powerful demonstration of unity among PDP governors and party loyalists who have remained committed to the party despite operating from the opposition.He commended Makinde for his patriotism, resilience, and contributions to both the PDP and national development, noting that such gestures reinforce trust and strengthen political alliances.Reconciliation Must Follow Due ProcessAddressing questions on the lingering crisis within the PDP, Governor Bala Mohammed dismissed claims that reconciliation within the party was not feasible.He emphasized that reconciliation efforts were ongoing but would strictly follow legal frameworks and internal party mechanisms rather than political pressure.“Reconciliation is not off the table. However, it must be guided by the rule of law and established processes.
