Governor of Gombe State and Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, on Monday joined Vice President Kashim Shettima, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, and other senior party leaders in Yola, Adamawa State, for a grand reception marking the formal entry of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri into the ruling party.The colourful event, held at Ribadu Square, drew prominent APC stalwarts, political stakeholders and a large crowd of enthusiastic supporters, reflecting the significance of the development for both the party and the region.Governor Inuwa Yahaya, a key figure within the APC, described Fintiri’s defection as a strategic political shift that would strengthen the party’s structure and electoral dominance in the North-East.Vice President Kashim Shettima, in his remarks, characterised the Adamawa governor’s entry into the APC as “a big catch,” noting that it further expands the party’s national spread and reinforces its position ahead of future political contests. He stressed that governors remain the rallying point of party cohesion in their respective states, providing leadership, coordination and grassroots mobilisation.Also speaking, APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, hailed the defection as a major milestone for the party, reaffirming the APC’s commitment to delivering good governance and sustainable development across the country.In his address, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri expressed gratitude for the warm reception accorded to him by the party leadership and supporters. He pledged total loyalty to the ideals and vision of the APC, assuring that his administration would work closely with the party at all levels to deliver greater dividends of democracy to the people of Adamawa State.Fintiri’s move to the APC comes weeks after he formally announced his departure from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), describing the decision as being in the best interest of Adamawa State and its long-term development trajectory.
