Gombe State Governor and Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum (NSGF), Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, has called on politicians and electorates across Nigeria to embrace peaceful coexistence, political tolerance and respect for democratic principles as activities ahead of the 2027 general elections begin to gather momentum.The Governor made the call after joining the Emir of Gombe, Alhaji (Dr.) Abubakar Shehu Abubakar III, CFR, alongside top government officials, traditional rulers, religious leaders, and thousands of Muslim faithful at the Central Eid Prayer Ground in Gombe for the two-Raka’at congregational prayers marking the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir celebration.The prayer session was led by the Deputy Chief Imam of Bubayero Central Mosque, Gombe, Ustaz Aliyu Hammari.Following the prayers, Governor Inuwa Yahaya hosted a reception at the Government House, attended by dignitaries including the Speaker of the Gombe State House of Assembly, Mohammed Luggerowo and the APC Governorship Candidate in the state, Dr. Jamilu Isiyaku Gwamna, government officials, President of the NigeriaUnionofJournalists, NUJ, ComradeAlhassanYahya among others. Speaking at the reception, the Governor expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for the opportunity to witness another Eid-el-Kabir celebration and urged Muslims to uphold the virtues of obedience, sacrifice, compassion and selflessness which the festival symbolizes.He appealed to Nigerians to remain patient and continue cooperating with constituted authorities, particularly in view of the security and socio-economic challenges facing the country.Governor Inuwa Yahaya also urged political actors across party lines to play politics according to established rules and avoid actions capable of undermining peace and national stability.According to him, no meaningful political ambition or struggle for power can succeed in an atmosphere of rancour, division and intolerance.He stressed that democracy can only flourish where there is mutual respect, understanding and adherence to the rule of law, urging politicians to place national interest above personal ambition.The Governor called on Nigerians to continue praying for peace, unity and economic prosperity in the country, expressing optimism that Nigeria would overcome its challenges through collective responsibility and cooperation.The Eid-el-Kabir celebration in Gombe attracted large crowds of worshippers and guests, with special prayers offered for sustained peace, progress, and good leadership in the state and the nation at large.Meanwhile, 27th May, 2026At Sallah Mini Durbar: Emir of Gombe Hails Inuwa Yahaya Over LCDAs, Seven Years of Transformational Leadership The Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, earlier today, led top government officials, political leaders and other dignitaries to the Emir’s Palace to witness the colourful traditional mini Sallah Durbar, popularly known as Jafi, as part of activities marking the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir celebration.The event showcased the rich cultural heritage of the Gombe Emirate, with the Emir of Gombe, Alhaji (Dr.) Abubakar Shehu Abubakar III, CFR, district heads, traditional title holders and a large contingent of horse riders adorned in magnificent traditional regalia paying homage in a display of loyalty, unity and tradition.Speaking shortly after the durbar, the Emir of Gombe urged Muslims to reflect on the spiritual significance of Eid-el-Kabir by embracing the virtues of obedience, sacrifice, patience and total submission to the will of Almighty Allah.The monarch also used the occasion to reaffirm the commitment of the Gombe Emirate Council and the traditional institution to supporting the administration of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya in its efforts to sustain peace, security and socio-economic development across the state.He commended the Governor for what he described as unprecedented achievements recorded within seven years of his stewardship, particularly in infrastructure development, education, healthcare, security and rural transformation.The royal father specifically praised the Governor’s decision to create Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs), describing it as a visionary policy capable of bringing governance and development closer to the grassroots.The Emir also called on farmers across the state to take advantage of the rainy season by returning to their farms in order to boost food production and strengthen economic activities.He also advised youths to engage in meaningful and productive ventures to contribute positively to society, while avoiding social vices and acts capable of undermining peace.Assuring Governor Inuwa Yahaya of the continued loyalty, support and prayers of the traditional institution, the Emir expressed confidence in the administration’s commitment to delivering more dividends of democracy to the people of Gombe State.The mini durbar attracted multitude of residents and visitors who thronged the palace to witness the colourful cultural spectacle and celebrate the Eid festivities in an atmosphere of peace.Governor Inuwa Yahaya was accompanied to the Emir’s Palace by the Speaker and members of the Gombe State House of Assembly, the APC Governorship Candidate for Gombe State, Dr. Jamilu Isiyaku Gwamna, senior government officials, political appointees, heads of security agencies and other prominent personalities.
