Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, has received the Emir of Gombe, Alhaji (Dr.) Abubakar Shehu Abubakar III, CFR, at the Government House on a traditional Sallah homage marking this year’s Eid-el-Fitr celebration.The visit, an age-long tradition in the state, provides an opportunity for the revered monarch to felicitate with the Governor and citizens on the successful completion of the Ramadan fast, while reinforcing the enduring partnership between the traditional institution and the government. Emir Praises Governor’s PerformanceSpeaking during the homage, the Emir expressed deep appreciation for what he described as the Governor’s purposeful and visionary leadership, noting that Gombe State has witnessed unprecedented development across multiple sectors under the current administration.“I am proud of you, Your Excellency. Your leadership has brought remarkable transformation to Gombe State. Frankly speaking, since the creation of the state, we have never witnessed this level of development until the coming of your administration,” the Emir said.The monarch recalled the Governor’s pledge at the start of his tenure not to fail the people, stating that the promise has not only been fulfilled but exceeded.“You made a promise to the people of Gombe that you would not fail them. Today, it is evident for all to see that you have kept your word. I am proud of you, and so are the people of this state.”Traditional Institution Commended for Inclusive GovernanceThe Emir further lauded the Governor for promoting peace, unity, and inclusive governance, particularly for integrating traditional rulers into the affairs of government. He highlighted major strides in health, infrastructure, education, energy, industry, and economic development, noting that development has reached even previously underserved communities. He also pointed to landmark projects that have reshaped the state’s capital and improved its appeal, including the upgraded Government House, the airport, the Three-Arms Zone, and the Shehu Abubakar District.Governor Reaffirms Commitment to Sustainable DevelopmentResponding, Governor Inuwa Yahaya thanked the Emir for his visit, prayers, and consistent support, describing the traditional institution as a critical partner in maintaining peace and driving development in the state.“Our relationship with the traditional institution, especially with His Royal Highness, the Emir of Gombe, has been cordial and productive. I deeply value the counsel and cooperation we continue to receive,” the Governor said.Reflecting on the past seven years of his administration, the Governor noted that his government has laid a solid foundation for sustainable growth through investments in infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture, and economic reforms.“We came with a clear vision to rebuild and transform Gombe State, and today we can confidently say that we have made appreciable progress across all sectors.”He reiterated that his administration is focused on building enduring legacies that will continue to benefit future generations, rather than executing projects for short-term gains.Security and Unity Remain Top PrioritiesGovernor Inuwa Yahaya also stressed that the safety of lives and property remains a top priority, while calling on residents to sustain the spirit of unity, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence demonstrated throughout the Ramadan period. Durbar Procession and Symbolic Sallah GiftThe homage was crowned with the presentation of the traditional Goron Sallah gift to the Emir by the Governor, followed by a colourful durbar procession featuring the Emir and an array of traditional title holders, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the Gombe Emirate.
