Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed of Bauchi State has formally declared his intention to contest for the Bauchi South Senatorial seat under the platform of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), declaring that the State “will never return to the era of hardship, failed governance and political intimidation.”
The declaration took place on Thursday during a major political gathering in Bauchi where the Governor also formally presented Dr. Yakubu Adamu as the governorship candidate of the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.Addressing a large crowd of party supporters, stakeholders and political associates, Governor Bala Mohammed described the event as “more than a declaration of candidates,” saying it symbolized a new political movement committed to sustaining development and protecting the interests of the people of Bauchi State.

The Governor explained that the decision to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and join the APM became necessary due to internal crises and what he described as the inability of the former platform to accommodate progressive governance ideals.
According to him, the APM now represents a credible platform for continuing his administration’s development vision anchored on economic growth, social inclusion and institutional reforms.“Our movement is not about personal ambition or opportunism. It is about protecting the future of Bauchi State and ensuring that our people continue to enjoy purposeful leadership,” he stated.Governor Bala Mohammed warned against any attempt to return the State to what he called “an era of endless verification exercises, disregard for traditional institutions and policies that inflicted hardship on citizens.”
He stressed that his administration’s development blueprint, tagged MY BAUCHI PROJECT, had already laid the foundation for long-term transformation through the Bauchi State Development Plan 2033 developed with support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).The Governor noted that despite achievements recorded in infrastructure, healthcare, education and economic reforms, challenges such as climate change, population growth and unemployment still require sustained and visionary leadership.

He therefore urged citizens to remain united and support the APM in the 2027 elections.Governor Bala Mohammed also used the occasion to formally present Dr. Yakubu Adamu as the governorship candidate of the party, describing him as “a competent and visionary leader capable of consolidating on the achievements recorded so far.”He further called on the people of Bauchi State to elect credible representatives into the National and State Assemblies who would effectively protect the interests of the State at the federal level.“Representation matters. Bauchi deserves lawmakers who will defend the interests of the people and attract meaningful opportunities for the State,” he added.
The Governor concluded by assuring residents that the APM campaign would remain peaceful, issue-based and focused on progressive ideas aimed at moving Bauchi State forward. The event attracted party leaders, traditional title holders, political stakeholders, youth groups and supporters from across the twenty local government areas of the State.
