Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has charged four newly inaugurated commissioners to uphold integrity, transparency, and accountability, warning that any form of misconduct or abuse of public trust will not be tolerated.
The Governor gave the charge during the swearing-in ceremony of the new commissioners at the Government House, Bauchi, where the Chief Judge of Bauchi State, Justice Rabi Talatu Umar, administered the Oaths of Office and Allegiance on Madaki Ahmad Gololo, Bashir Yau, Bashir Adamu Rishi, and Baraya Ibrahim.
Governor Bala Mohammed explained that the appointments became necessary following the resignation of some members of the State Executive Council who voluntarily stepped down to pursue elective positions ahead of the 2027 general elections, in line with constitutional and legal requirements. He noted that the replacements were selected from the affected local government areas to ensure continuity and balanced representation within the cabinet.
According to the Governor, the appointments were driven not only by the need for representation but also by the competence, experience, credibility, and proven commitment of the appointees to the progress of Bauchi State.
He urged the commissioners to quickly settle into their responsibilities, familiarize themselves with government policies and programmes, and maintain close collaboration with permanent secretaries and career civil servants to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.
Governor Bala Mohammed reminded the new commissioners that public office is a sacred trust and warned that their actions would remain under constant public scrutiny. He emphasized the need for strict adherence to due process, prudent management of public resources, and unwavering commitment to ethical leadership.
Highlighting the achievements of his administration since 2019, the Governor cited major investments in road infrastructure, healthcare, education, water supply, agriculture, security, youth empowerment, and skills acquisition. He stated that these interventions have significantly improved the state’s development profile and strengthened Bauchi’s reputation as one of Nigeria’s most peaceful and progressively governed states.
As part of the ceremony, Governor Bala Mohammed also announced changes within the State Executive Council. Madaki Ahmad Gololo was assigned to the Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises and Cooperatives, Bashir Yau to the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Bashir Adamu Rishi to the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, while Baraya Ibrahim was deployed to the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment.
The Governor further redeployed Adamu Babayo Gabarin to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Abdul Hassan to the Ministry of Rural Development and Special Duties, and Muhammad Hamisu Shira to the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development. Hassan Eliyakub and Usman Usman will continue overseeing the Ministries of Local Government and Water Resources, respectively.
Responding on behalf of the newly sworn-in commissioners, Baraya Ibrahim expressed appreciation to Governor Bala Mohammed for the confidence reposed in them. He assured the Governor and the people of Bauchi State that the commissioners would serve with dedication, uphold transparency and accountability, and work collectively to advance the administration’s development agenda.
The ceremony concluded with prayers offered by Governor Bala Mohammed for divine guidance and protection for the new commissioners, Bauchi State, and Nigeria. He reaffirmed his administration’s determination to sustain the delivery of impactful projects and policies that improve the lives of citizens throughout the remainder of its tenure.
