Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of the Executive Chairman of Zaki Local Government Area, Mallam Masud Aliyu Umar, who reportedly died in a motor accident at Konkiyal Village in Darazo Local Government Area.
Mallam Umar was returning to Zaki after attending an Allied Peoples Movement (APM) stakeholders’ meeting convened earlier in the day when the accident occurred.
In a condolence message, Governor Mohammed extended his sympathies to the deceased’s family, the people of Zaki Local Government Area, the Katagum Emirate Council, the Bauchi State chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), and his friends and associates.
The Governor described Mallam Umar as a dedicated public servant, committed grassroots politician and compassionate leader whose contributions to public service and community development would be remembered.
Before becoming Zaki Local Government Chairman, Mallam Umar served as Director-General of the Bauchi State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), where he was involved in emergency response, disaster management and humanitarian interventions across the state.
As chairman, he continued to pursue grassroots development, including efforts to empower youths and women, improve livelihoods and promote inclusive development. Governor Mohammed said that despite his relatively brief tenure, Mallam Umar’s accessibility, commitment to service and concern for his constituents distinguished his leadership.
The Governor said his death was a painful loss to his immediate family, the people of Zaki and Bauchi State, particularly the public service and local government administration.
He urged the deceased’s family, political associates, friends and the people of Zaki to seek strength and comfort in Almighty Allah. He also prayed that Allah would forgive Mallam Umar’s shortcomings, accept his good deeds and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus.
The funeral prayer is scheduled for Monday, 2 November 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Palace of the District Head, Mur Mur, Zaki Local Government Area.
Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un.
