Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed of Bauchi State on Monday joined President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, former heads of state, senior government officials, military leaders, diplomats, traditional rulers, religious leaders and other eminent Nigerians at the First-Year Remembrance Ceremony held in honour of Nigeria’s former President, Muhammadu Buhari, at the Nigerian Army Conference Centre, Abuja.
The solemn gathering celebrated the life and enduring legacy of the late President Buhari, whose decades of public service were widely acknowledged for discipline, patriotism, integrity and commitment to national development.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Special Guest of Honour, was represented by Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima. Guests were received by the former First Lady, Mrs. Aisha Buhari, alongside members of the Buhari family.
In his opening remarks, the Chairman of the Organising Committee and former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, described the event as a moment of reflection on the remarkable life of service, sacrifice and leadership exemplified by the late President. He urged Nigerians to preserve Buhari’s ideals of national unity, good governance and selfless service to the nation.
The remembrance ceremony featured moving tributes from eminent personalities who reflected on Buhari’s character, values and contributions to Nigeria’s democratic journey. Former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon, praised the late President’s unwavering patriotism, discipline and steadfast commitment to Nigeria’s peace, unity and progress.
Governor Bala Mohammed joined other national leaders in paying tribute to the late President and offered prayers for the peaceful repose of his soul, asking Almighty Allah to grant him Aljannatul Firdaus.
The ceremony served as a poignant reminder of the late Muhammadu Buhari’s enduring impact on Nigeria’s political history and the values of service and dedication he championed throughout his lifetime.
