The First Lady of Bauchi State, Dr. Aisha Bala Mohammed, has called on government, parents, foundations and other stakeholders to work together to provide children with access to both religious and Western education.
She made the call while commissioning the Sheikh Tahir Tsangaya Model School in Kangere, describing collaboration as essential to educational advancement and the development of children in the state.
Dr. Aisha said joint efforts could help address the challenge of out-of-school children and improve access to learning. She also linked education to the need to tackle youth unemployment, saying better opportunities for young people could contribute to easing the hardship faced by people across Northern Nigeria.
She urged the school’s stakeholders to remain committed to its success and to work towards providing quality education. She stressed that the responsibility of sustaining the institution would require continued cooperation among those involved.
In a goodwill message, the representative of the Algerian Embassy, Dr. Fatihi, conveyed his country’s goodwill and pledged support for initiatives of this kind.
Professor Ibrahim Ahmad Makari said Tsangaya schools had suffered neglect in the past. He called on parents, government and other stakeholders to support the school’s effective management and ensure that it continues to serve its pupils. He also commended the First Lady for the initiative and urged those responsible to care for the facility for the benefit of present and future learners.
In her welcome address, the Director of Al-Muhibbah Foundation, Hajiya Ladi Ibrahim Tomas, praised Dr. Aisha for partnering with the Sheikh Tahir Usman Foundation to provide quality education at the school.
She urged the Sheikh Tahir Usman Foundation to manage the school effectively and maintain high educational standards. She also encouraged the pupils to concentrate on their studies, make the most of the opportunity provided and work towards a successful future.
The commissioning highlighted the role that partnerships among government, community leaders and foundations can play in supporting education and improving opportunities for children.
