Giade Local Government Area of Bauchi State came alive with colourful cultural displays and traditional festivities as residents, traditional title holders and political leaders gathered for the historic “Bikin Gani” celebration.
Among prominent personalities at the celebration was the APM NASARA gubernatorial candidate for the 2027 election, Dr. Yakubu Adamu Giade (Wazirin Giade), who received a warm welcome from residents and supporters.
Dr. Yakubu Adamu attended the celebration alongside his running mate, Hon. Mahmood Babamaaji Abubakar, and the Deputy Director-General of the 2027 APM NASARA Campaign Council, Rt. Hon. Danlami Ahmed Kawule (FCFA, Barden Arewan Bauchi).
Also in the delegation was Hon. Mittaka Muhammad Duguri (Ogan Boye), alongside other dignitaries, political stakeholders and community leaders who joined the people of Giade in celebrating their cultural heritage.
CELEBRATING GIADE’S RICH CULTURAL HERITAGE
Bikin Gani is regarded as one of Giade’s longstanding traditional celebrations, with deep historical and cultural significance to the people of the area.
The festival provides an important platform for preserving the customs, identity and unity of the Giade people while strengthening the relationship between the traditional institution and the wider community.
A major feature of the celebration is the ceremonial recognition of traditional title holders under the leadership and authority of the Mai Martaba Sarkin Giade.
The celebration also featured a colourful traditional durbar, Hawan Daba, during which horsemen and traditional title holders displayed the rich cultural heritage for which the emirate is known.
Traditional rulers, community leaders, residents, political stakeholders and other well-wishers participated in the festivities, which were conducted peacefully amid prayers and goodwill messages.
Special prayers were offered for continued peace, stability, unity and prosperity in Giade Emirate, Giade Local Government Area and Bauchi State.
YAKUBU ADAMU RECEIVES WARM HOMECOMING
The visit also turned into a colourful homecoming for Dr. Yakubu Adamu Giade, as residents and supporters trooped out to welcome the APM gubernatorial candidate.
The reception provided Dr. Yakubu Adamu and his delegation an opportunity to interact with members of the community while identifying with an important cultural institution of the Giade people.
The gathering also highlighted the role of traditional institutions and cultural celebrations in promoting peace, community cohesion and preservation of heritage, particularly as political activities gradually build towards the 2027 general elections.
Dr. Yakubu Adamu’s participation in the Bikin Gani celebration was therefore seen not only as a homecoming but also as an opportunity to identify with the customs and aspirations of his people.
The celebration ended with prayers for the continued progress of Giade Emirate and for peaceful political activities across Bauchi State ahead of the 2027 elections.
