The Executive Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has received another prestigious national recognition for his outstanding contributions to healthcare development and infrastructure transformation at the States Competitiveness and Investment Readiness Awards (SCIRA) 2026 organised by the BUSINESSDAY Newspaper.
The award ceremony, held at the NAF Conference Centre and Suites, Abuja, brought together senior government officials, development partners, policymakers, and private sector stakeholders to celebrate excellence in governance, infrastructure delivery, and investment readiness across Nigerian states.
The Bauchi State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Usman Shehu Usman, received the award of Outstanding Governor on Health Infrastructure on behalf of Governor Bala Mohammed.
Speaking shortly after receiving the award, the Commissioner described the recognition as a confirmation of the Governor’s visionary leadership, people-centred policies, and commitment to improving the living standards of citizens through strategic investments in critical sectors.
According to Usman, the award recognises Governor Bala Mohammed’s sustained efforts in transforming the health sector through the expansion and renovation of healthcare facilities, upgrading of medical infrastructure, procurement of modern equipment, and reforms aimed at improving healthcare delivery across urban and rural communities in Bauchi State.
He noted that healthcare development has remained a major pillar of the administration’s development agenda, adding that the government has continued to implement policies designed to build a stronger, more accessible, and efficient healthcare system.
“The recognition is a reflection of the remarkable progress recorded in the health sector under the leadership of Governor Bala Mohammed. It highlights the administration’s determination to ensure that citizens have access to quality and affordable healthcare services regardless of their location,” Usman stated.
The Commissioner explained that the SCIRA Awards assess states based on measurable indicators of governance performance, infrastructure development, and economic competitiveness, serving as a benchmark for evaluating sub-national achievements across Nigeria.
He added that the honour further reinforces Bauchi State’s growing reputation for effective public service delivery and sustainable development initiatives.
Usman expressed appreciation to the organisers for recognising the achievements of the Bauchi State Government, while reaffirming the administration’s commitment to sustaining reforms and expanding access to quality healthcare services for the people.
He said the latest recognition adds to the growing number of awards received by Governor Bala Mohammed, reflecting his dedication to strengthening public institutions, delivering impactful governance, and advancing sustainable development in Bauchi State.
“The award is not only a recognition of achievements already recorded, but also an encouragement to continue pursuing excellence in healthcare infrastructure and service delivery for the benefit of present and future generations,” the Commissioner added.
