A wave of grief has swept across Bauchi and neighbouring Gombe State following the tragic death of the Executive Secretary of the Bauchi State Health Contributory Management Agency (BASHCMA), Alhaji Ibrahim Ladan Duguri, alongside four of his children in a devastating road accident.
Reacting to the heartbreaking incident, Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, expressed profound sorrow over the loss, describing the death of a father and four of his children in a single tragedy as an unimaginable calamity that has left families, friends, colleagues and communities in deep mourning.
In a condolence message issued on behalf of the government and people of Gombe State, Governor Inuwa Yahaya extended his sympathies to his Bauchi State counterpart, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, the government and people of Bauchi State, and the immediate and extended family of the deceased.
Gombe Shares Bauchi’s Pain
Governor Inuwa Yahaya said the tragedy had touched the hearts of people beyond Bauchi State, stressing that the close relationship between the two neighbouring states made the loss particularly painful.
He described the incident as a profound human tragedy and acknowledged the enormous emotional burden facing the bereaved family.
“Our hearts are with the government and people of Bauchi State, particularly the bereaved family, as they grapple with this painful loss.
“The people of Gombe State join you in mourning Alhaji Ibrahim Duguri and his beloved children. We pray that Almighty Allah grants the family the strength and fortitude to bear this devastating tragedy,” the Governor stated.
He emphasised that the people of Gombe State stand in solidarity with their Bauchi neighbours during this difficult period of mourning.
Governor Prays for Deceased, Surviving Son
The Governor offered special prayers for the repose of the souls of Alhaji Ibrahim Ladan Duguri and his four children, asking Almighty Allah to forgive their shortcomings and grant them Aljannat Firdaus.
He also prayed for divine comfort, patience and strength for the bereaved family, relatives, friends and colleagues affected by the tragedy.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya further expressed concern over the condition of Suleiman, the surviving son who reportedly sustained critical injuries in the accident.
He prayed for Suleiman’s speedy and complete recovery, expressing hope that Almighty Allah would grant him healing and restore him to good health.
A Painful Loss to Bauchi State
The death of Alhaji Ibrahim Ladan Duguri, who served as Executive Secretary of BASHCMA, represents a painful loss to his family, colleagues and the state’s health administration.
As head of the agency responsible for managing Bauchi State’s contributory health scheme, Duguri occupied an important position within the state’s healthcare financing system.
