Tragedy has struck the heart of Bauchi State following a devastating road accident that claimed the lives of the Executive Secretary of the Bauchi State Health Contributory Management Agency (BASHCMA), Alhaji Ibrahim Ladan Duguri, and four of his children, leaving Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed mourning not only a distinguished public servant but also a cherished classmate and close personal friend.
The fatal accident reportedly occurred on the evening of Saturday, October 17, 2026, at Yalwan Duguri in Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
The four children who lost their lives alongside their father were identified as Hajara, Usman, Rukayya and Maryam.
Another son, Suleiman, reportedly survived the accident, prompting prayers for his recovery.
Governor Bala Mohammed Devastated by Personal Loss
In an emotional condolence message issued on behalf of his family, the Bauchi State Government and the entire people of the state, Governor Bala Mohammed described the incident as heartbreaking and a monumental loss.
The Governor expressed profound grief over the death of Alhaji Ibrahim Ladan Duguri, recalling the longstanding friendship and personal relationship they shared as former classmates.
According to the Governor, the deceased was more than a senior government official. He was a trusted companion whose commitment to public service, loyalty and dedication to humanity earned him respect and admiration.
The Governor acknowledged that losing a close friend under such tragic circumstances, together with four of his children, was particularly painful.
Bauchi Health Sector Loses Dedicated Administrator
Governor Mohammed described the late Alhaji Ibrahim Ladan Duguri as a committed healthcare administrator who contributed significantly to the advancement of the state’s contributory healthcare system.
As Executive Secretary of BASHCMA, Duguri played an important role in strengthening efforts to improve access to affordable healthcare, particularly for vulnerable and less privileged residents.
His professional contributions also extended to the welfare of pilgrims during Hajj exercises in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, where he participated in medical support activities aimed at safeguarding the health and well-being of pilgrims from Bauchi State.
The Governor maintained that the deceased’s dedication, experience and passion for service would be greatly missed by colleagues and beneficiaries of the state’s healthcare programmes.
Four Children Lost in One Tragic Incident
Beyond the loss of an accomplished public servant, the death of four children from the same family has compounded the grief surrounding the incident.
Governor Mohammed expressed deep sympathy with the immediate and extended families of the deceased, the Duguri Emirate Council, friends, associates and the people of Bauchi State.
He acknowledged that words alone could not adequately convey the pain of losing five members of one family in such devastating circumstances.
The Governor also expressed concern for Suleiman, the surviving son, praying that Almighty Allah would grant him complete healing, strength and comfort.
Governor Calls for Prayers and Solidarity
Governor Bala Mohammed appealed to the people of Bauchi State to remember the bereaved family in their prayers and extend compassion, encouragement and support to those affected by the tragedy.
He prayed that Almighty Allah would forgive the shortcomings of Alhaji Ibrahim Ladan Duguri and his four children, accept their good deeds and grant them eternal rest in Aljannatul Firdaus.
The Governor equally prayed for divine strength and fortitude for the surviving family members, relatives, friends, colleagues and the entire Duguri community.
Funeral Prayer Scheduled in Yalwan Duguri
According to the funeral arrangements announced in the Governor’s condolence message, prayers for the deceased were scheduled for Sunday, October 18, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the palace of the District Head of Yalwan Duguri in Alkaleri Local Government Area.
The tragic incident has deprived Bauchi State of an experienced health administrator and left a grieving family facing the painful loss of five loved ones.
