SSA Communication to the Governor of Bauchi State
A major political realignment is unfolding in Bauchi State as leaders and stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), cutting across ward, local government and state levels, have declared their support for the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) and expressed their readiness to formally defect to the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The PDP leaders announced their position during a strategic meeting at the Old Banquet Hall of the Bauchi State Government House, where they reaffirmed their loyalty to Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed and pledged to work for the victory of all APM candidates in the forthcoming elections.
They also appealed to Governor Bala Mohammed to fix a date for their formal defection into the APM, describing their decision as necessary to consolidate the political movement behind the Governor and sustain the development recorded across Bauchi State.
Speaking at the meeting, the Deputy Chairman of the PDP in Bauchi State, Falalu Attah, said the gathering was convened at the instance of the party leadership to restrategise and provide a common direction for members across the state.
According to him, the objective is to ensure that PDP members from the grassroots to the state level unite behind Governor Bala Mohammed and all candidates of the APM in the 2027 general elections.
Addressing the gathering, the Bauchi State PDP Chairman, Pharm. Samaila Adamu Burga, said Governor Bala Mohammed emerged politically through the PDP and that the achievements recorded by his administration were accomplished while the party provided the political platform for his government.
He said this historical relationship made it necessary for members of the PDP to continue supporting the Governor despite his movement to the APM, particularly in view of what he described as the administration’s developmental strides across the state.
Pharm. Burga commended Governor Bala Mohammed for his efforts over the years toward sustaining and strengthening the PDP, saying party members could not abandon a leader who had contributed significantly to their political journey.
He consequently announced the collective resolve of the PDP leaders present to move into the Allied Peoples Movement and mobilise support for all candidates being fielded by the party in the 2027 elections.
According to him, supporting the APM represents a commitment to continuity, stability and the consolidation of ongoing development programmes across Bauchi State.
Also speaking, the State Secretary of the PDP, Bakoji Aliyu Bobo, said the decision was reached after consultations and consideration of what the leaders believe to be in the best interest of the state’s political development.
He pledged that the group would embark on grassroots mobilisation across the 20 local government areas of Bauchi State, reaching communities, wards and political stakeholders to build support for APM candidates.
The gathering therefore formally declared its political alignment with the APM while awaiting the announcement of a date by Governor Bala Mohammed for the official defection ceremony.
The development is expected to further strengthen the APM’s political structure in Bauchi State as preparations and alignments intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.
