Months after a tragic road accident claimed the life of Kabiru Ahmed Ilelah while on official duty, Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has fulfilled his promise to the bereaved family with a ₦5 million donation, providing financial relief to the two widows left behind.
The Governor’s intervention, which saw each widow receive ₦2.5 million, comes as a gesture of compassion and solidarity with a family still mourning the painful loss of its breadwinner.
The late Kabiru Ahmed Ilelah lost his life several months ago in a fatal road accident along Duguri Road while carrying out official responsibilities.
Following the unfortunate incident, Governor Mohammed pledged financial assistance to the deceased’s family, a commitment he has now fulfilled through a delegation of senior government officials and media representatives.
The donation was formally presented on behalf of the Governor by a delegation led by the Bauchi State Commissioner for Information, Usman Usman Shehu, alongside the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Comrade Mukhtar Gidado.
Other members of the delegation included the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Bauchi State Council, Malam Isa Gadau; the Governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Communication, Malam Abdulwahab Muhammad; the Director of Information, Suleiman Alhassan Dambam; and Abdulhamid Abdullahi of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA).
The financial intervention is expected to ease some of the economic challenges facing the deceased’s widows following the sudden loss of their husband.
Beyond its monetary value, the donation represents the fulfilment of a promise made in the aftermath of a tragedy and highlights the importance of extending support to families whose loved ones die while performing official duties.
For the bereaved family, the assistance comes at a difficult period, offering a measure of financial stability as they continue to adjust to life without their loved one.
The development also draws attention to the welfare of families left behind by individuals who lose their lives in the course of public service, particularly the need for sustained institutional compassion and support.
Governor Mohammed’s fulfilment of the pledge underscores the significance of translating expressions of sympathy into practical assistance for those affected by tragedy.
While the donation cannot replace the life lost, it provides meaningful support to the two widows and serves as an acknowledgement of the circumstances surrounding Kabiru Ahmed Ilelah’s untimely death.
The ₦5 million intervention ultimately marks the fulfilment of the Governor’s commitment to the family, offering financial relief and reassurance that the deceased’s service and sacrifice have not been forgotten.
