The initiative, officially flagged off at the premises of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), reflects the administration’s sustained commitment to social inclusion, community solidarity, and festive welfare support for citizens across diverse segments of society.Speaking during the inauguration on behalf of Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, the Secretary to the State Government, Aminu Hammayo, described Eid-el-Kabir as a sacred season that promotes sacrifice, compassion, obedience, and collective responsibility among Muslims.He explained that the intervention was designed to ease the burden of celebration for vulnerable households while strengthening the spirit of unity, inclusion, and shared prosperity across Bauchi State.According to him, beneficiaries of the distribution programme include traditional institutions, community leaders, youth organisations, women groups, security personnel, religious stakeholders, and other vulnerable members of society.Hammayo further disclosed that Governor Bala Mohammed specifically directed that all livestock for the exercise be sourced directly from local markets within the state as part of efforts to stimulate economic activities and empower indigenous livestock traders ahead of the festive season.He commended members of the implementation committee for ensuring transparency and efficiency in the coordination process, adding that the distribution exercise would simultaneously reach major zones and communities including Azare, Toro, Misau, and other parts of the state.Also speaking, Hon. Amina Katagum, Commissioner for Budget and Multilateral Coordination and overseeing Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, described the initiative as a clear demonstration of the administration’s people-oriented governance philosophy.She noted that the statewide distribution underscores the government’s determination to ensure that citizens celebrate the sacred festival with dignity, relief, and renewed hope despite prevailing economic challenges.The Commissioner commended Governor Bala Mohammed for sustaining what she described as a “compassion-driven leadership culture,” while offering prayers for continued peace, progress, and divine guidance for the state and its leadership.The annual Sallah support programme, which has remained a recurring feature since the inception of the Bala Mohammed administration, will see cows and rams distributed across the 20 local government areas of Bauchi State as part of efforts to promote social welfare and inclusive celebration during the Eid-el-Kabir festivities.
