Bauchi State Governor and leader of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in the state, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has declared that the party will present only loyal, credible, and people-oriented candidates for the forthcoming local government elections scheduled for August.
The governor made the declaration on Thursday while inaugurating the APM Stakeholders’ Meeting at the Government House, Bauchi, where party leaders gathered to fine-tune strategies ahead of the grassroots polls.
Addressing the stakeholders, Governor Bala Mohammed reaffirmed the party’s commitment to conducting a transparent, fair, and credible primary election process that will produce candidates capable of delivering quality leadership and effective service to the people at the grassroots.
He said the APM remains focused on rewarding loyalty, integrity, competence, and dedication to public service, stressing that only individuals who embody these qualities would earn the party’s ticket.
The governor also called on party leaders, aspirants, and supporters to place the collective interest of the party above personal ambition. He urged them to remain united, exercise patience, and avoid actions capable of creating division, noting that the strength and electoral success of the party depend on cohesion and mutual respect.
Governor Bala Mohammed further assured that the Bauchi State Government would continue to uphold democratic principles by ensuring that the forthcoming local government elections are conducted in a peaceful, free, fair, and transparent atmosphere, enabling citizens to elect leaders of their choice without intimidation.
The stakeholders’ meeting brought together senior APM officials, party executives, and key political figures from across the 20 local government areas of Bauchi State. Deliberations centred on preparations for the August council elections, strengthening the party’s grassroots structures, and consolidating support for the APM across the state.
The meeting is widely seen as a significant step in the party’s preparations for the local government elections, with the leadership expressing confidence in the APM’s readiness to deepen grassroots democracy and expand its political footprint in Bauchi State.
