The political landscape in Bauchi State witnessed another significant development on Thursday as the Governorship Candidate of the People’s Redemption Party (PRP), Senator Shehu Buba Umar, officially unveiled former Majority Leader of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Tijjani Mohammed Aliyu, as his running mate for the 2027 governorship election.
The announcement, contained in a statement issued by the Senator’s Adviser on Media and Communication, Comrade Sabo Mohammed, marks a major step in the PRP’s preparations for what is expected to be a fiercely contested governorship race.
According to the statement, the selection of Rt. Hon. Tijjani Mohammed Aliyu reflects the party’s determination to present a leadership team with the experience, competence, and vision required to provide effective governance and accelerate the socio-economic development of Bauchi State.
A seasoned administrator, politician, and business management professional, Aliyu holds both a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
He represented Azare/Madangala Constituency in the Bauchi State House of Assembly from 2015 to 2023 and served as Majority Leader, where he earned recognition for his legislative contributions, commitment to accountability, and advocacy for policies aimed at improving the welfare of the people.
Before venturing into politics, Aliyu established a successful career in banking, finance, customer service, and corporate administration. His professional experience spans several reputable institutions, including International Trust Bank Plc, Global Bank Plc, Intercellular Nigeria Plc, and Mutunchi Pride Nigeria Limited.
The PRP believes his extensive administrative and financial management experience will complement Senator Shehu Buba Umar’s leadership and strengthen the party’s governorship ticket ahead of the 2027 polls.
The statement further noted that the Shehu Buba–Tijjani Aliyu ticket is committed to delivering policies focused on youth empowerment, agricultural development, quality healthcare, education, infrastructure expansion, economic growth, and transparent governance.
Expressing optimism about the partnership, Senator Shehu Buba Umar said the joint ticket represents a shared vision for a more prosperous, secure, and inclusive Bauchi State. He urged party members, supporters, stakeholders, and the electorate to unite behind the PRP as campaigns gather momentum ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
With the unveiling of his running mate, Senator Shehu Buba Umar has now completed the formation of the PRP governorship ticket, setting the stage for what promises to be an intense political contest as parties begin positioning themselves for the race to the Bauchi State Government House
